I’m not a celebrity, I’m an icon – Mr. 2kay declares

Nigerian singer, Mr. 2Kay has declared himself more than a celebrity, as he proclaimed himself an icon. According to the singer, he rose from the slums to the palace all by himself and stands in a competition with no one.
Mr. 2kay chose to call himself an icon because, in his opinion, celebrities come and go while icons remain alive forever. In a sense, what 2kay is trying to say is that the likes of Davido and Wizkid who are super celebrities, will one day fade off while he remains. He shared a short documentary of his rise to fame, noting that his journey has been that of an icon.
In his documentary, he mentioned that no one believed in him while he was working hard to build his music career. Be that as it was, he kept the faith and reaped the fruit of his perseverance. Having gone through all that, 2kay is positive that he deserves the crown of icons, not that of celebrities. But fans do not quite agree with him on that.
According to fans, if it takes the details highlighted in 2kay’s documentary to be an icon, then almost all celebrities would be icons because the documentary matches the stories of almost all celebrities. But then, 2kay has spoken.
